We are Mosey, an impact-driven start-up based in London. Mosey was co-founded by Yvette Aarons and Jenny Kananov Shayo, a software developer and an educational psychologist who were united by their shared passion for reading.

Our first product is an app for children aged 5-8 who are at the beginning of their reading journey and would benefit from extra support, including help with reading aloud.

Unfortunately, rates of reading for pleasure have been dropping over recent years. Currently, 1 in 2 children in the UK say they don’t enjoy reading.

Finding solutions

We’ve talked to parents, educators and researchers to understand why children might not enjoy reading. We’ve identified barriers ranging from reading difficulties to growing competition from online games and videos. We want to help remove these barriers by using cutting-edge technology and designing a new and exciting reading experience for children.
